On the afternoon of April 23, 2024, the “Bay Area Mediator” themed promotional activity of the Shenzhen Qianhai International Commercial Mediation Center (hereinafter referred to as the “Mediation Center”) was successfully held at the Shenzhen International Chamber of Commerce (hereinafter referred to as the “Chamber”). Mr. Zeng Fanchen, Grade 2 Researcher of the People's Participation and Rule of Law Promotion Division of the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Justice, Mr. Sun Zhenjun, Grade 2 Director of the Foreign Trade Division of the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Mr. Wen Guihe, Secretary General of the Qianhai International Commercial Mediation Center, Mr. Zhao Jinghua, Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce of Shenzhen (ICC Shenzhen), Mr. Law Wai-hung, Chairman of the Hong Kong International Mediation Center (HKIMC), Mr. Xu Zizhu, Director of Programs at the International Dispute Resolution and Risk Management Institute (IDRMI), as well as more than 30 industry experts, including Lawyers, scholars and business executives gathered together to discuss the application of commercial mediation in the business environment.

On behalf of the Chamber, Mr. Zhao Jinghua, Secretary General of the Chamber, delivered a welcome speech, introducing the basic situation of the Chamber, emphasizing that the Chamber gives full play to the functions of connecting government and enterprises, integrating internal and external affairs, and facilitating supply and demand, and firmly grasps the fundamentals of serving the enterprises, and is committed to building a platform for international trade aggregation, and providing the full range of services required for enterprises to go global, such as international commercial legal consulting and mediation. The Chamber is committed to building a platform for international trade facilitation, providing a full set of services required by enterprises “going out”, such as international commercial legal counseling and mediation, and paving the way for Chinese and foreign enterprises to carry out mutually beneficial cooperation. The Chamber will strengthen close cooperation with the Mediation Center and other mediation organizations to add bricks and mortar to the cause of cross-border dispute mediation in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and to help the integration and development of the Greater Bay Area.

Mr. Wen Guihe, Secretary General of the Mediation Centre, said in his speech that the “Mediator in the Bay Area” thematic publicity campaign was held to provide a platform for exchange between mediation organizations, mediators, business associations and commercial entities, to promote the concepts and methods of commercial mediation, and to allow all parties to have in-depth exchanges, share experiences and seek common development, so as to enable more people to understand the advantages and value of commercial mediation and to guide them to become powerful tools for resolving business disputes and promoting economic cooperation. Mr. Law Wai-hung, Chairman of the Hong Kong International Mediation Centre (HKIMC), delivered a keynote speech on “Commercial Mediation Mechanisms and Strategies for Optimizing the Business Environment for Commercial Enterprises”. Chairman Law Wai-hung pointed out that dispute resolution is an important part of risk management for enterprises, and it is a challenge and development need for Chinese business enterprises all the time. Commercial mediation, with its features of impartiality, independence, portability, high efficiency, etc. and its unique idea of dispute resolution, meets the expectation of enterprises to solve problems in a complete and professional manner, and to maximize the benefits and value created; and expressed great room for the sustainable development of commercial mediation in two aspects, i.e., the latest procedures and strategies of commercial mediation, and the professional service model of commercial mediation. At the event, Mr. Zeng Fanchen, second grade researcher of the People's Participation and Promotion of the Rule of Law Division of the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Justice, presented a commemorative plaque of the cooperation unit to the International Chamber of Commerce of Shenzhen (ICCS).
